This is pretty cool. Now, I’m not wanting to join the Peace Corps for material gain (I’d be stupid if I was), but the readjustment allowance just went up. It is a pretty significant increase, too. For as long as I can remember the Readjustment Allowance for 27 months of service has been set at just over $6,000 (or about $223 a month). Today, Director Williams announced that the Allowance will be adjusted to $7,425 for 27 months of service (or about $275/mo.) This is awesome! Especially when you consider that for 27 months you really won’t be able to save any money, so this Readjustment Allowance is your “nest egg” to get settled back in the States.
I am excited about this!
